Veneers can be used to individually enhance the aesthetic of the top teeth that are most visible when you smile.

They are adhered using strong dental cement and made from carefully shaped porcelain. Once you and your dentist are content with the characteristics of each veneer, including shape and shade, they are adhered using strong dental cement and made from carefully shaped porcelain.

What is a veneer?

A veneer is a covering for the front surface of a tooth. Its cosmetic purpose is to hide imperfections like fractures, shade defects and cracks but also to enhance the shape of individual teeth.

Here at Lockwood Dental Practice, we are great believers in enhancing your smile and using natural-looking materials to do so. We will study not just your smile but your whole face and how your features are balanced against one another.

This holistic approach and attention to detail have enabled us to deliver great results for our satisfied patients.

How will a veneer benefit me?

Natural-looking materials used
The use of porcelain to create veneers is the key to their highly tooth-like characteristics. Porcelain has a specific light-reflecting trait that mirrors that of real tooth enamel.

Stain-resistant
Veneers are highly resilient to stains that your teeth can pick up when drinking coffee, tea, and red wine.

Even out small gaps in your Smile
Veneers fill small gaps in your teeth, improving the proportions of your smile.

The veneers process

Step 1: Examination
We will check your mouth over for signs of decay or gum disease, as these issues will need to be addressed before the veneer process can commence.

Your dentist will explain the advantages of veneers versus similar treatments, such as cosmetic bonding, to help you decide which process is best for you.

Step 2: Veneer preparation
Digital scans or dental impressions are taken and sent away to our partner dental technician to use as a template for crafting your veneer. A thin portion of your tooth structure is carefully removed to facilitate the placement of the veneer.

Step 3: Veneer placement
A strong dental cement is applied to adhere the veneer in place over the top of the tooth. This process is repeated if multiple teeth are being treated.
